Western Mediterranean Luxury Yacht Charters

Western Mediterranean luxury yacht charters compress a remarkable range of coastlines into short, comfortable passages — a chef-led lunch in Cap-Ferrat, the pink granite of the Maddalena archipelago, dinner in Porto Cervo, and a slow morning off Formentera. LYC Mediterranean shortlists yachts and itineraries for each of these grounds without the noise of a public database.

Overview

Western Mediterranean luxury yacht charters cover the coastlines most guests picture first — the French Riviera, Ligurian coast, Corsica, Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast and the Balearic Islands. Passages are short, marinas are polished, and provisioning is exceptional.

The five signature grounds

  • French Riviera & Cap-Ferrat — Monaco, Villefranche, Antibes, Saint-Tropez. Polished coastal towns and a full social calendar on shore.
  • Corsica — Bonifacio, the Lavezzi and Cerbicale islands. Quiet, dramatic, and only an overnight passage from the Riviera.
  • Sardinia & the Maddalena archipelago — Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, La Maddalena. Turquoise water, pink granite, active summer scene.
  • Amalfi Coast & Capri — Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Ischia. Vertical coastline and extraordinary light — best in June and September.
  • Balearic Islands — Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca. The most versatile ground for mixed groups.

Sample seven-night itineraries

Western Mediterranean luxury yacht charters typically embark Saturday afternoon and disembark the following Saturday. A common Riviera–Corsica loop: Antibes → Saint-Tropez → Calvi → Bonifacio → Porto Cervo → Antibes. A Balearic loop: Palma → Cabrera → Ibiza → Formentera → Mallorca → Palma.

Marinas and berthing

High-season berths in Monaco, Porto Cervo, Ibiza and Saint-Tropez are contested from May onwards. LYC asks captains to secure berths early and structures itineraries around confirmed reservations.

Best time to charter

May and June: quieter and cooler. July: peak activity. August: European holiday month — plan for it. September: warm seas, less crowding — often the favourite month among regulars.
